Full-Time SQL Data Administrator II - NBC Sports Next

SQL Database Administrator II participates in the design, development, implementation, review, and monitoring of all database environments.

Works closely with software Development, Data Engineering, and QA teams to ensure efficient operation and provide best practices.

1. Responsibilities
2. Design, implement, maintain, and monitor database servers across environments (Production, QA, Development).
3. Ensure High Availability and meet SLAs for systems.
4. Design and implement monitoring solutions.
5. Review and audit environments for best practices in security.
6. Assist in T-SQL development, support of SQL CI/CD life cycle.
7. Assist developers in writing queries/procedures.
8. Identify and resolve system performance bottlenecks.
9. Assist in system capacity planning.
10. Create and implement new environments based on business needs.
11. Design and implement data systems integration.

• Minimum Qualifications
• At least 5+ years of hands-on SQL Server experience.
• Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server, T-SQL, Power Shell, and coding best practices.
• Knowledge of MySQL & Postgres preferred.
• Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud Services (RDS, EC2).
• Experience using Source Control (GitHub) for database scripts and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Understanding of SQL Server HA and DR technologies (availability groups, backups, restores, FCI, log shipping, mirroring, replication).
• Strong SQL Server administration skills (backups, restores, snapshots, user/role security, access permissions).
• Understanding of SQL Server concurrency, transactions, and locking.
• Experience with SQL Server debugging and tracing.
• Experience using full-text search and XML in SQL Server.
• Experience in SQL performance analysis and optimization.
• Associate's degree, preferably in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience using Atlassian Jira & Confluence.

Fully Remote Position

This position is fully remote, working from a non-NBCUniversal location (most commonly an employee's residence).
