Job Details
SQL Database Administrator II participates in the design, development, implementation, review, and monitoring of all database environments.
Works closely with software Development, Data Engineering, and QA teams to ensure efficient operation, providing guidelines and recommendations on best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, maintain, and monitor database servers (Production, QA, Development).
- Ensure High Availability (HA) and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) across environments.
- Design and implement monitoring solutions to achieve HA and SLA goals.
- Review and audit all environments for security best practices.
- Assist in T-SQL development (check-in, review, build, testing, and deployment) and support of SQL CI/CD lifecycle.
- Assist developers in best practices for writing queries/procedures.
- Perform tuning to identify system performance bottlenecks.
- Assist in system capacity planning.
- Create and implement new environments based on business needs.
- Design and implement data systems integration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years hands-on SQL Server experience.
- Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server, T-SQL, Power Shell, and coding best practices.
- Knowledge of MySQL & Postgres preferred.
- Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud Services (RDS, EC2).
- Experience using Source Control (GitHub) for scripts and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
- Strong understanding of SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery (availability groups, backups/restores, FCI, log shipping, mirroring, replication).
- Strong SQL Server administration skills (backups, restores, snapshots, user/role security, access permissions).
- Understanding of SQL Server concurrency features, transactions, and locking.
- Experience with SQL Server debugging and tracing.
- Experience using full-text search and XML in SQL Server.
- Experience in SQL performance analysis and optimization.
- Associate degree (Computer Science preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Experience using Atlassian Jira & Confluence.
