Full-Time Sr Cyber Security Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our NBCU Security Engineering team. This role involves collaborating with Global Streaming Technology and Cyber Security organizations to ensure secure technology design and deployment aligned with Cyber Security and enterprise strategies.

Responsibilities include conducting end-to-end security and threat analysis for new or modified technology deployments, ensuring compliance with Information Security best practices. The role requires technical and engineering expertise across network, application, cloud, and enterprise security controls. Collaboration with the Cyber organization, business stakeholders, and development of security guidance/mitigation requirements is essential. Strong communication skills are needed to promote Cyber initiatives and gain buy-in from business stakeholders.

Basic Requirements include:

• 5+ years of experience partnering with business and technical teams to architect and deliver Cyber solutions.
• 5+ years of experience consulting with business teams on threat mitigation best practices (e.g., Perimeter Security, Application Security, Core Systems, EDR, Cloud).
• Understanding of common threats to Network, Cloud, Web, and Application environments.
• Collaboration to ensure Cyber requirements are clear throughout project phases.
• Knowledge of Cyber Security best practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10, CWE/SANS Top 25, CIS controls, NIST guidelines).
• Technical expertise in at least one Cyber Security area.
• Providing and receiving constructive feedback for team improvement.
• Mentorship to team members.
• Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience using diagramming tools to communicate security designs.
• Effective time management for multiple concurrent projects.

Desired Characteristics include:

• Relevant experience in the mentioned areas (prioritized over formal degree).
• Threat Analysis and modeling experience using frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.
• Experience in Consumer-Facing Applications (e.g., streaming media, OTT platforms).
• Detailed knowledge of Cloud Services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and associated risks.
• Familiarity with security controls (e.g., Cloud Security Matrix, NIST CSF, CIS Critical Security Controls).
• Understanding of data and privacy regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA).
• Experience developing and documenting security guidelines or best practices.
• Understanding of Cybersecurity Engineering/Operations, Incident Response, and GRC functions.
• Empathy for engineering teams balancing security with operational needs.
