The Sr. Data Engineer will be responsible for architecture, design, development, and maintenance of analytical data streams for new and existing projects.
This role will join a team of data engineers managing data pipelines, data warehousing, data marts, and business intelligence environments within the NBC SportsNext – Golf team.
Responsibilities include:
- Defining development requirements, coordinating acceptance testing, training, and identifying enhancements.
- Leading data engineer team members and collaborating with development leads for application integrity.
- Designing and developing data pipelines, data marts, and schemas.
- Supporting data warehousing environments and analytical requirements.
- Database architecture and design of data warehouses and data marts.
- TSQL development, query tuning, table development, stored procedures, and functions.
- Creating indexes for workload performance enhancement.
- Developing ETL/ELT processes and monitoring data warehouses and data marts.
- Developing and supporting data pipelines in MS SSIS, Azure Data factory, PowerShell, Python, Golang.
- Experience with cloud environments: Azure, AWS, GCP.
- Troubleshooting data issues in production.
- Communicating with business users and project managers.
- Using technical experience to suggest better solutions.
- Involvement with other IT departments.
- Meeting with IT groups (other departments and computer operations).
- Mentoring other Data Engineers.
- Identifying software solutions for new projects.
- Weekly reporting on project status and issues.
- On-call production support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years data warehousing/OLAP experience
- 7+ years multidimensional database architecture and design experience
- 5+ years SQL experience
- 3+ years Python experience
- 2+ years PowerShell experience
- 2+ years Redshift experience
- 2+ years NoSQL experience
- Team and vendor partner management
- Understanding of Web development principles and techniques
- Experience with AWS Glue and Airflow
- Experience with API
- Dimensional database architecture experience
- Formal systems life cycle methodology experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Cloud Data Warehouse operations experience
- Tableau, SSRS, big data and real-time BI experience
- Data streaming experience
