Full-Time Sr. Platform Operations Engineer - NBC Sports Next

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll shape the future of our engineering ecosystem by developing capabilities, patterns, services, and automation that enable teams to move quickly at scale while maintaining rigorous security and compliance requirements.

You will take a leading role in delivering platform solutions that meet high operational, performance, and security standards.

You will join a dynamic platform team that builds and operates critical cloud infrastructure, creating solutions that empower teams to innovate quickly and safely at scale.

This role combines hands-on technical leadership in AWS, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, developer tooling and platform capabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Drive and participate in solution architecture and delivery across diverse domains, offering expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure and resources, containers (ECS/Kubernetes) and cloud-native architectures
2. Develop, enhance, and operate platform capabilities including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, reusable patterns, and automation solutions that enable rapid, reliable, and secure deployments
3. Design and implement standardized, reusable cloud infrastructure patterns and templates that help teams adopt best practices while maintaining security and compliance requirements
4. Demonstrate, enable, and promote consistent adoption of software delivery practices and solutions that optimize for fast feedback, observability, and operational excellence
5. Proactively collaborate with product and engineering teams, taking technical leadership in areas of cross-functional projects while sharing knowledge and best practices
6. Evaluate existing standards and practices, identify gaps, and implement improvements to strengthen Development, Security, and Operational practices across the organization
7. Demonstrate excellent communication skills through proactive status updates, clear documentation, knowledge sharing, and effective collaboration when facing technical challenges
8. Partner closely with engineering teams to understand their needs, refine requirements, and deliver solutions that enhance developer productivity while meeting project objectives

Required Experience:

• Extensive hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform
• Track record of building and operating secure, compliant cloud solutions at scale, with deep understanding of AWS security best practices
• Strong expertise in container technologies, including practical experience with AMIs, Docker, and orchestration platforms like ECS/EKS
• Proven experience implementing and maintaining GitOps workflows and CI/CD automation at scale to enable rapid, reliable deployments
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and provisioning relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) in AWS
• Demonstrated ability to develop reusable infrastructure patterns and platform capabilities that improve developer experience
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• Track record of breaking down complex technical challenges and driving solutions through completion

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in regulated environments with complex compliance requirements
• Background in platform engineering with focus on developer experience and DevOps practices
• Deep AWS and cloud-native expertise demonstrated through hands-on experience or relevant certifications
• Experience mentoring other engineers and sharing technical knowledge effectively
