We are seeking a Sr. Scrum Lead who will join the NBCU Operations & Technology organization. As Sr. Scrum Lead, you are adept at guiding and coaching teams in the effective adoption and use of agile methodologies and practices, while championing agile values, principles, and mindset. The Sr. Scrum Lead will partner with Engineering, Product, and stakeholders to remove impediments, improve cross-team collaboration, and coach teams toward effective ways of working.
The right person for this role is passionate about facilitating the adoption and maturity of agile practices for a group of squads who develop and maintain multiple applications. A Sr Scrum Lead is responsible for championing healthy team dynamics which increase creativity, commitment, collaboration and continuous improvement. In this role, you will be expected to proactively assess team maturity via dysfunction mapping, analysis, and solutioning to improve overall organizational ways of working.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience required
- 5+ years of experience in a role demonstrating strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills
- 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Lead, or as a member of a high-performing Scrum Team
- Skilled in assessing team and organizational maturity of agile capabilities & practices via problem analysis and proactive remediation
- Expertise in coaching teams to achieve higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
- Experienced in coaching & adoption of various agile methodologies and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), Lean, and XP
- Experienced in designing processes for new agile teams and projects, including documenting and training peers and leaders to effectively utilize new ways of working
- Skilled in teaching agile techniques such as user stories & user story mapping, CI/CD pipelines, TDD, pair programming, and designing & facilitating agile technique workshops
- Expertise in the SDLC process with a focus on scoping, iteration planning, roadmaps, release management, and estimation techniques
- Ability to effectively & creatively facilitate agile ceremonies, such as daily stand ups, sprint planning, sprint review, and retrospective meetings
- Ability to achieve specific milestones through data-driven forecasting for deliverables within an iteration, including tracking and removing any impediments to team productivity
- Ability to assist with internal and external communication of team progress, opportunities, and challenges, leading to improved organizational transparency and advocacy for continuous improvement efforts
- An influential servant leader who is skilled in providing feedback to teams, individual contributors, and leaders
- Skillfully adaptive in approach and communication style to fit varying contexts and situational needs
- Experienced with Atlassian project management tools (Jira, Confluence) and / or similar work management tools
Desired Characteristics:
- Knowledgeable and passionate about platform application development and internal systems development
- Deep understanding and emphasis on fostering psychological safety in team environments by utilizing teaching techniques that support diverse learning styles
- Expert in dysfunction mapping, systems thinking, team topologies, and organizational change management
- Experience in scaling processes and ways of working during periods of intense organizational growth and change
- Certified Scrum Master, Scrum Product Owner, and / or Scrum Developer
- Certified SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) Practitioner who can teach concepts such as PI (Program Increment) Planning and ART (Agile Release Train)
