Data & Analytics Team supports NBCU’s brands in data and analytics strategies. The Data & Analytics team seeks a passionate Sr Staff Data Engineer to build the next generation of data solutions. This role involves working with stakeholders, data engineers, data scientists, and technologists.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the process of building and designing data models using data from multiple sources.
- Implement design patterns while optimizing performance, cost, security, and user experience.
- Collaborate with business leaders, engineers, and product managers.
- Interface with technology teams to extract, load, and transform data.
- Become a subject matter expert in data engineering technologies.
- Coach and guide others on building scalable pipelines and semantic models.
- Participate in development sprints, demos, retrospectives, and releases.
- Build and manage relationships with IT teams.
- Transform complex data into actionable insights for technical and non-technical end users.
- Act as a subject matter expert in data modeling.
- Stay current with data standards, systems, and future tools.
Requirements:
- 12+ years of progressive experience in data engineering.
- 10+ years of experience with SQL and data modeling.
- 8+ years of experience in business-facing analytical roles.
- 8+ years of experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- 8+ years of experience with data modeling and virtualization tools (DBT, AtScale, etc.).
- Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience building data pipelines using Python/SQL.
- Experience with orchestration engines (Airflow, Luigi, etc.).
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong SQL, DB, and ELT tool skills (Snowflake, Redshift).
- Experience with federated query engines (Trino / Starburst).
- Familiarity with cloud solutions and cloud storage (AWS S3, GCS, etc.).
- Strong media knowledge (broadcast TV, digital, mobile).
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Action-oriented approach, with strong results, positive attitude, ethical behavior, and building trust.
- Strong understanding of Agile principles and best practices.
