What you get to do in this role:
Maintain and deploy modern computer networks based on business and technical requirements. Partner with project and program managers to meet timelines and resolve issues. Operate and troubleshoot networks to quickly identify and resolve issues. Take a lead role in engaging and mitigating outage-causing events or issues. Validate problem descriptions, perform detailed problem diagnosis, and track/update problems in trouble-ticketing systems. Perform non-critical investigations into functionality not working as desired. Deeply engage in sustainment to proactively analyze network parameters (capacity & availability) to ensure issues are fixed before outages. Review, consult, and prepare for planned change introduction to production. Partner with teams to plan and execute software code upgrades and device maintenance.
Sample first 6-month deliverables:
- Quickly integrate into the environment and understand network architecture, organization, and process/procedures.
- Deploy capacity into a data center based on demand.
- Participate in incident bridges, troubleshooting and mitigating outages as the networking engineering resource.
- Take ownership of at least one key technology managed by the team.
- Partner with the SRE team to identify and solve one network process issue.
To be successful in this role you have:
- Experience leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
- 6+ years experience in networking with a solid foundation in routing, switching, security, and load balancing.
- 6+ years of firewall administration (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortigate)
- 6+ years of load balancer administration (F5 BigIP, NGINX, NetScaler)
- Minimum 5 years of experience working on Internet and data center networks.
- RedHat/CentOS Linux
- Virtualization and container management (Kubernetes, OpenStack, Linux KVM)
- Scripting and automation (bash/python - a plus)
- High-performance computing (GPGPU, Infiniband, RoCEv2 - a plus)
- Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) using DevOps, BitBucket, GitHub
- Solid understanding of and experience with most of the following network technologies: BGP, OSPF, HSRP/VRRP, IPSEC, SNMP, ECMP
- Deep, hands-on experience with TCP/IP protocols, including capturing and analyzing traffic with Wireshark and/or other tools
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS and JunOS operating systems
- Ability to partner with globally distributed peers

- Ability to learn new technology in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, efficient time management with competing priorities
