As Supplier Network Quality Engineer, you will support Surface Treatment initiatives, applying your knowledge of paint and surface treatment principles to certify suppliers to company standards.

You'll provide supply chain expertise to buyers and suppliers, acting as a vital link between purchasing and plants.

This role will support quality of paint and surface treatment issues in the supply chain. You will apply, develop, and expand your professional knowledge of paint processes and surface treatment as it relates to the Supply Chain.

This role supports critical projects, actively participates in sourcing, supplier selection, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities.

You will support and push suppliers to maintain product and quality performance, resolving product quality concerns within the supply chain.

  1. Be an active member in North America Purchasing team.
  2. Provide support for current investigation, planning, and implementation of critical projects.
  3. Be knowledgeable working with liquid paint application.
  4. Provide support and share knowledge of quality, purchasing, and manufacturing experience in paint, surface treatment technologies for automotive and/or heavy-duty truck industry.
  5. Audit and develop Surface Treatment Suppliers.
  6. Contribute to SPD activities in accordance with defined strategies and targets.
  7. Ensure close supplier interaction, developing and working with cross-functional teams.
  8. Ensure the best supplier selection following Technology & Supplier Evaluation processes.
  9. Communicate performance indicators to suppliers (PPAP, APQP, Supplier Delivery Precision, PPM/QPM, capacity analysis).
  10. Keep part quality information accurate and updated in company’s Global Purchasing System.
  11. Follow up preventive quality action programs and corrective actions.
  12. Generate and track product/process deviations for production approval.
  13. Review and assist in quality rejections due to supplier deficiencies.
  • 5-8 years of relevant supplier quality experience from automotive industry.
  • Paint and surface treatment, chemical processing background and manufacturing processes knowledge.
  • Paint booth operational knowledge.
  • Preferred University Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient with Quality tools (Capacity Evaluation, PPAP, APQP, Problem Solving, SPC).
  • Knowledgeable in current and future business trends, technology, and markets.
  • Able to execute in a global organization (Preferred).
  • Strong Knowledge of Supply Chain Management.
  • Ability to communicate in English, written and orally.
  • Knowledge of automotive quality standards (ISO 9000:2015, IATF16949, ISO14001).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to create networks, communicate strongly to lead cross-functional activities in multi-cultural teams.
  • Ability to work independently when required.
  • Desire to travel to suppliers within US/occasionally Mexico or Canada for 50-70% of the time.
