Applicants must be primarily home-based but will be required to visit customer sites and our offices around 6-8 times a month.
Due to strict security clearance requirements, we can only consider applicants that have lived in the UK for 5 consecutive years or more.
As a Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining network security for internal engineering solutions.
- Assisting with the resolution of security-related incidents.
- Researching and applying security best practices.
- Applying IT Health check remediation fixes.
- Supporting the wider Network engineering team in solution delivery and continuous improvement.
Job activity & responsibilities:
- Use our dedicated incident management system and liaise with other team members and Service Desk to ensure that all security-related Incidents are dealt with within contracted SLA timescales.
- Ensure proactive monitoring and maintenance of SSS Engineering solutions, installing patches, upgrades, etc., ensuring a high level of resilience.
- Configure and install various infrastructure security patches on devices (e.g., firewalls, servers, installed applications).
- Ensure that all change/project work is delivered on time.
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.
- Create, review, and update network & security documentation, for example, workplans, work instructions, and technical guides.
- Work professionally in liaison with several internal teams to coordinate various activities and gather/provide information required to complete tasks at hand.
- Work in a team and potentially autonomously where projects dictate a limited engineering requirement.
- Be provided a car allowance.
- Involve customer site working, travel, and overnight stays as demand requires.
- Continuously follow and adhere to SSS Public Safety outlined processes & procedures.
- Present a professional approach and attitude to all work.
- Promote a clean working environment.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety practices, rules, and regulations.
- Support the wider network team in completing customer delivery activities as required.
What are we looking for:
- Proven hands-on network and security experience (SC-900, CCNA Security, CEH, or CISSP)
- Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, TLS, SSH, SNMP, 802.1X)
- Understanding of encryption technologies (e.g., AES, RSA, SHA, Certificates)
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP principals along with using Wireshark for in-depth network traffic filtering and analysis.
- Proven experience in a security role, with hands-on expertise with implementing security measures and protocols.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network and security diagnostic and network analytics tools.
- Excellent communication and client-facing/customer service skills.
- Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
- Able to obtain or currently hold the relevant security clearances (SC and/or NPPV)
- Full, current driving licence.
- Strong interpersonal/team skills.
