Full-Time Analytics Engineer

Houzz is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join our Accounting Data Team. This role focuses on uncovering critical financial insights to guide accounting decisions, drive operational excellence, and support financial reporting. You will transform raw financial data into actionable insights, impacting efficiency, compliance, and financial reporting.

• Lead data-driven projects delivering insights to support accounting operations, financial reporting, and business direction.
• Collaborate with accounting, finance, and engineering teams to launch strategic analytical initiatives.
• Define and manage key accounting and financial metrics efficiently.
• Investigate, interpret, and present financial data to support variance analysis and root cause investigations.
• Own end-to-end execution of assigned projects.
• Partner with engineering and data teams to ensure robust data infrastructure.
• Provide recommendations that accelerate close cycles, improve reporting, and mitigate risk.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and data products for real-time business insights.
• Perform account reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and 3+ years of experience in an analytical/accounting role within a tech environment.
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, using aggregate functions/joins, and in Python or R.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with advanced financial analysis and experimental design.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, organized, and eager to improve accounting processes.
• Experience creating dynamic data visualizations and dashboards in Tableau.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and monitor data pipelines in Airflow.

• An advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or Operations Research.
• Experience with subscription-based analytics, SaaS finance, and web/app engagement metrics.
• Ability to learn and execute quickly, managing ambiguity and shifting priorities.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite).
• Experience working collaboratively with remote teams across time zones.
