Full-Time Associate Director, Legal

Reporting to Head of Legal, this role is within the MUFG legal team requiring legal advice supporting growing global business at MUFG Investor Services.

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advisory, regulatory and documentation support to fund administration, registrar, transfer agent, investor AML services, banking, custody, trustee, regulatory reporting, registered office and corporate secretary businesses.
• Provide legal advice and documentation support (managing timelines/expectations, reviewing/drafting documents, negotiating agreements, liaising with stakeholders, risk assessment, obtaining sign-off, and providing legal opinions).
• Documentation may include service agreements (administration, middle office, BPO, FATCA, regulatory reporting, declarations of trust, bank account mandates and terms and conditions, NDAs), intragroup/outsourcing agreements and vendor agreements.
• Respond to legal queries from operational departments, internal control groups, client integration/client services teams, senior management and entity boards.
• Advise business on day-to-day legal and regulatory matters across all jurisdictions.
• Manage/coordinate with external legal counsel as needed for senior management advice and business function support.
• Support, and if necessary, manage projects and new business initiatives.
• Coordinate the maintenance and creation of precedents based on legal, regulatory, operational and market developments.
• Provide advice to, and/or represent legal on, internal committees.

Qualifications:

• Qualified lawyer with 3-5 years' post-qualification experience and a valid practicing certificate in England and Wales.
• In-house legal role experience (ideally with a bank, fund manager or fund service provider).
