MEMX is seeking an engineer for an 11:00 PM - 8:00 AM ET shift. The role demands curiosity, drive, self-motivation, and passion for operational excellence through engineering, monitoring, and automation.
The position requires hands-on work maintaining and improving the platform that powers MEMX's operations.
The solution stack combines open-source and in-house solutions to meet low-latency, high-throughput real-time trading demands.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with development and operations teams to maintain infrastructure.
- Designing, implementing, and monitoring scalable solutions (on-premises and cloud).
- Developing custom operating system images for distributed systems.
- Debugging build systems and improving build performance through analysis.
- Monitoring system capacity and performance for scaling and incident root cause analysis.
- Mitigating software and hardware vulnerabilities with the information security team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of operating systems, especially Linux and Linux internals.
- Unix command-line proficiency with Python and shell scripting expertise.
- Solid understanding of systems, networks, and distributed systems troubleshooting.
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux servers in production environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
