* Start: December 2024
* Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension
* Pay: $45/hour
* Location: Remote
* Hours: 15-25 hours per week
Responsibilities include:
Our client is looking for a Employee Benefits attorney with at least 5 years’ experience to help develop and edit online legal products for Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practitioners. The attorney will edit and create “how-to” type practical guidance, forms, and legal analysis for a wide range of Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation topics.
Requirements:
* Law degree from an accredited law school
* Active bar membership in good standing
* At least 2-4 years of experience as an Employee Benefits attorney
* Substantive experience in drafting and reviewing a wide variety of Employee Benefits agreements, provisions, and policies
* Substantive experience in providing advice to clients regarding a wide variety of Employee Benefits topics including, among others, all aspects of ERISA, defined benefit retirement plans, defined contribution retirement plans, the Affordable Care Act, consumer health plans, cafeteria plans and fringe benefits, HIPAA, COBRA, and employee benefits issues in mergers and acquisitions
* Ability to think critically and annotate agreements and policies (or review and revise such annotations as necessary)
* Excellent editing, legal research, analysis, and writing skills
* Ability to complete assigned projects by prescribed deadlines
* Organized, self-motivated, and able to work in a detail-oriented environment
Requirements
• Possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Must be admitted to practice law in the United States
• Proven experience with Mergers & Acquisitions (M& A)
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and their applications in legal scenarios
• Proficiency in legal research and the use of legal databases such as LexisNexis
• Experience in drafting and editing legal documents, including summary reports and checklists
• Strong written communication and writing skills
• Knowledge of Employment Law and Labor Law
• Experience in handling corporate transactions
• Familiarity with Employee Benefit Plan, Health Plan, and Cobra Administration
• Understanding of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
• Experience in retirement plan and statute handling
• Proficiency in policy review and materials handling
• Ability to manage time effectively (About Time)
• Knowledge of provisions in legal contracts and documents
• Experience with legal matters related to employee benefits.
