Background
In 2006, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) was established to support the development of vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics, and innovative technologies for public health emergencies. BARDA's success includes over 60+ FDA approvals/licenses, 101 Biomedical products supported for COVID-19 response, and 136 partnerships.
Job Responsibilities
Support BARDA program managers on decentralized clinical trials (DCTs).
- Participate in BARDA program teams evaluating BARDA products in decentralized clinical settings.
- Review and provide expert opinion on proposals involving DCT capabilities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on DCT design, execution, and management, including non-traditional site-based healthcare settings.
- Inform on the landscape of organizations conducting DCTs, highlighting challenges and strategic value.
Qualifications
Requires at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in diverse clinical study designs, including product development and adoption studies (e.g., pragmatic or RWE studies).
- Knowledge of clinical trial innovation and integrating new processes/technologies.
- Understanding of CRO and DCT organization landscapes.
- Knowledge of critical capabilities for clinical studies (quality systems, data management, labs).
- Experience in non-traditional clinical sites (retail pharmacies, clinics, urgent care, telemedicine).
- Knowledge of both clinical/technical aspects and business administration of clinical studies.
- Experience supporting diverse DCT, pragmatic, and RWE approaches in clinical trials and products (e.g., vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics/devices).
