Full-Time Commerce Writer

The Verge is seeking a commerce writer to join our Reviews and Guides team.

As a commerce writer, you'll work directly with our Senior Commerce Editor and team to serve our audience with information that helps them get their hands on the best gear at the best price. Ideal candidates should have a fierce passion for consumer technology, especially the latest gadgets. As a commerce writer, you'll guide our audience to the latest and best deals, make product recommendations, and experiment with new formats to help readers discover new things. You'll work closely with the reviews team to infuse your writing with the same strong angles and opinions that The Verge brings to its reviews every day.

What you'll do

The central expectation of the Commerce Writer will be to help produce and maintain buying guides, along with select pieces of evergreen content. They'll work closely with our reviewers and editors to ensure accuracy and timeliness, and perform price/stock checks as needed.

This person will also write articles and newsletters informing readers of sales or deals, produce seasonal gift guides anchored around holidays like Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, and occasionally assist with special keynote events and product launches.

This role is vital during tentpole shopping events and smaller, sale-centric holidays. The ability to work the occasional weekend or holiday is paramount, particularly during peak sale hours.

There will also be an opportunity to pitch/write reviews, pursue long-form features, and take on other editorial tasks for The Verge, time permitting.

Who you are

• 2 years of writing experience, e-commerce writing a plus
• Familiarity with consumer tech coverage; bonus if you're familiar with The Verge
• Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for deals and the latest shopping trends
• A love for gadgets and a passion for service journalism
