What will the role involve?
Support your team of reporters in delivering engaging content (words, pictures, video). Organize and manage publishing of fresh, accurate, and legally-sound news content. Handle live coverage, launching and maintaining live blogs for significant stories.
Act as a hands-on people manager, supporting team members in pitching and writing engagement stories. Oversee websites and social media, developing social media strategy. Crucially, help develop the Customer Value Strategy, maximizing audience loyalty.
Who are we looking for?
Experienced NCTJ/NQJ (or equivalent) journalist with extensive UK media law knowledge.
Proven track record of writing and editing digital news content in a fast-paced environment.
First-class writer and storyteller with a strong understanding of news brands and audience engagement strategies.
Good understanding of SEO, search, social and digital audience behavior.
Social media savvy, experienced in utilizing platforms like Facebook, X, and Instagram.
Prior people management experience (or eagerness to step into a management role, using strong communication, motivation, and people skills).
Strong working knowledge of the East Midlands region to inform content decisions.
