GENERAL SUMMARY: The School of Nursing seeks Contributing (Part-Time) faculty for the DNP program with experience teaching at the graduate level in an online environment and mentoring doctoral students. A Contributing (Part-Time) academic faculty member will report to the Academic Program Coordinator and will work closely with Academic Coordinators, academic advising, and administrative staff within the School of Nursing.
Opportunities for Contributing faculty:
- Serve as committee chair, or faculty advisor and/or second member of doctoral project study committees.

Faculty members educate Walden University students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources to impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well-written, and timely communications. This is accomplished in an environment respectful of students, the Faculty Member, Walden University, and the discipline.
Faculty Members are expected to adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations.
Training: All new Faculty Members receive specific training from Walden University in teaching techniques, electronic learning platform use, school/college policies, procedures, and degree programs, Walden University culture, academic integrity assessment (including Turnitin.com), and DNP project supervision.
Course Teaching/Availability: Faculty Members are assigned a course taught using the CANVAS platform and are responsible for student interaction within this platform. Discussion Boards are open 24/7. Postings must be timely. Faculty Members are expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week and respond to student questions within 48 hours.
External Requirements: Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed, have an earned degree from an accredited institution or be recognized by, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible.
Licensing/Certification: Faculty Members must maintain their licenses and certifications.
Tools/Technical Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Performance will be evaluated based on these requirements.
Requirements:
- Earned Master's degree in nursing (MSN) and an earned DNP (preferably in Nursing or closely related field) from an accredited institution.
- Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner certification or executive leadership experience preferred.
- Expertise in areas of scholarship, theory, nursing education.
- Online teaching experience preferred.
- Commitment to advocating for student learning needs.
- Excellent communication, team, and human-relations skills.
- Current, active, and unrestricted RN licensure in one of the 50 US states.
Compensation: Graduate course instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester, depending on the course type and length. Undergraduate course instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on the course type and length. Actual pay may vary based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as course type, experience, location, licensure, certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibility.
Other opportunities: Dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation/doctoral study mentoring.
