Opportunity at a Glance Contributing faculty members serve part-time to educate Walden University Students. Effectively use online technology and resources to share knowledge, information, feedback, and critique with students in thoughtful, well-written, timely communications. Maintain respectful interactions with students, colleagues, and the discipline.
Responsibilities
- Training: Receive training from Walden University in teaching techniques, eLearning platforms, policies, procedures, degree programs, academic integrity (Turnitin), and research supervision.
- Course Teaching: Teach assigned courses using eCollege. Interact with students on discussion boards (24/7). Respond to student questions within 48 hours. Verify student postings and provide feedback/grades through Blackboard.
- Availability: Be reasonably accessible to students outside discussion boards. Provide substantive feedback on assignments. Publish availability through syllabi, instructor information, and other documents. Consider online office hours or regular online chats.
- Residencies: Attend optional domestic/international residencies to teach intensives/colloquia and facilitate school/university-wide discussions.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
- Compliance: Adhere to all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Education: DNP or PhD in Nursing or related field (recognized by ministry of education/counsel of higher education).
- Experience: 1+ years teaching experience at the degree level of the program preferred. 1+ years online/technology-enabled instruction experience preferred. 1+ years current practice experience as a PMHNP required.
- Licenses: RN and APRN license in a US state (Minnesota preferred). Willingness to acquire a Minnesota license.
- Technology: Adequate computer, keyboard, pointing device, monitor for electronic learning platform. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), zip software, Adobe Acrobat. Reliable internet access with alternate access.
- Professional Contributions: Significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to [school specific] field. Experience in the practice of [field of study].
- Commitment: Commitment to student learning needs in a distance learning environment. Commitment to promoting applied research and diverse faculty. Excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills. Experience with distance learning preferred.
- Credentials/Licensing: Appropriately credentialed, earned degree from accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education; potentially required licenses. Maintain licenses and certifications.
- Research: Maintain currency with research through articles, journals, and presentations. May publish research, acknowledging Walden University.
Compensation
Graduate Courses: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester (varies by course type and length)
Undergraduate Courses: $700 - $2,200 per quarter (varies by course type and length)
