Qualifications
- Earned master's degree in nursing (MSN) and an earned Doctorate/PhD (preferably in Nursing or related field) from an accredited institution.
- Expertise in research/scholarship, theory, nursing education.
- Distinguished record of scholarship (externally funded research and peer-reviewed publications in Nursing education). Online teaching experience preferred.
- Commitment to advocating for student learning and development needs.
- Excellent communication, team, and human-relations skills.
- Current, active, & unrestricted RN licensure in one of the 50 US states.
Course Teaching/Availability
Faculty are assigned a course using the CANVAS platform and responsible for interacting with students.
Discussion boards are open 24/7. Postings must be completed timely. Faculty expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week. Responses to student questions posted within 48 hours.
External Requirements
- Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution, or recognized by a country’s ministry of education in the discipline being taught.
- May be expected to be licensed or license-eligible.
- Maintain licenses and appropriate certifications.
- Maintain currency with research (review articles, journals, and presentations).
- Publish and acknowledge Walden University if participating in research.
Tools/Technical Skills
Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Evaluation based on performance of essential functions.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The School of Nursing seeks Contributing (Part-Time) faculty for the PhD program. A Contributing (Part-Time) academic faculty member will report to the Academic Program Coordinator and work closely with academic advisors and administrative staff.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Nursing or related discipline with expertise in research methods.
- Active RN license
- Evidence of a program of scholarship
- 1 to 2 years of online teaching in a master’s or higher nursing program
- Experience serving on dissertation committees (preferred)
Opportunities for Contributing faculty
- Serve as committee chair, first or second member of doctoral project study committees
- May be asked to serve as University Research Reviewers
- Instruct methodology courses or modules when needed
- Participate in program and university-based residencies

Compensation:
Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester.
Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter.
Actual pay may be adjusted based on legal factors.
