We are a fast-growing immigration law firm looking for a bilingual (English and Spanish) legal assistant to help support our immigration court program team. This position will work closely with our attorney and paralegal team to contact clients, prepare declarations, prepare limited EOIR and USCIS forms, and support the court team as needed within the court’s required deadlines. The role entails a client-facing aspect and the ability to learn and use case management software to support this work. The ideal candidate will be skilled at handling clients respectfully and providing necessary information in a simple format. The ideal candidate will be excited to learn more about immigration law, be goal-oriented, be able to follow detailed instructions and be motivated to help our clients obtain documents and stay united with their families. Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the court attorneys and paralegals daily on necessary case support tasks.
- Review FBI background check requests, USCIS, OBIM, CPB, EOIR, and other similar records and court documents.
- Draft declarations for clients to support their court cases
- Analyze case documents and client evidence submissions
- Organize exhibits for filings and court appearances
- Oversee communication with clients regarding cases
- Scheduling appointments with clients
Qualifications and Requirements
- Familiarity with Immigration FOIA requests and U.S. court U.S.ords preferred
- Experience working in law-related roles in the past is a plus!
- Associate's degree or paralegal certification required. Substantive experience working in courts, government agencies, a law firm, or the field of immigration law may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Experience in using legal database software
- Excellent communication and organization skills
