Opportunity at a GlanceThis position is responsible for providing leadership, support, and direction for services, research, staff, and/or resources of Walden University.
Responsibilities
- The Dean of Student Progress and Success leads the Office of Academic Performance.
- Ensures Walden leaders, faculty, and staff are able to make data-driven decisions and foster a strong learning and working environment.
- Identifies and addresses barriers, bridges gaps, connects people, builds a caring community, and assesses outcomes.
- Provides oversight for institutional research and analytics to deliver an exceptional student experience.
- Provides oversight for leaders responsible for institutional effectiveness, inclusive teaching/learning, student retention, and belonging.
- Works collaboratively with executives and leaders to achieve university strategic goals and provide intelligence or lead transformation initiatives.
- Works collaboratively with other leaders to advance the mission and strategic goals.
- Reports to the Vice Provost.
- Strategic Leadership in Student Success
- Develops and implements a data-driven student success strategy that enhances student retention and persistence from the first year through graduation.
- Tracks retention, persistence, and completion by cohort and general student population.
- Identifies student success gaps and facilitates targeted interventions.
- Analyzes and reports retention data to the leadership team.
- Works across the organization to leverage best practices and increase institutional knowledge.
- Student Engagement, Retention, and Persistence Initiatives
- Leads the development and execution of retention programs.
- Collaborates with faculty to foster belonging and academic engagement.
- Works with university partners for a cohesive and supportive student experience.
- Oversees holistic institutional assessment.
- Data-Driven Decision Making and Reporting
- Utilizes data analytics to assess the impact of initiatives.
- Prepares regular reports on student success metrics.
- Uses predictive analytics to identify and prioritize student needs.
- Provides support and resources for Interdisciplinary Research Labs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Earned doctorate preferred.
- Record of excellence in research publication and presentations

- Experience in doctoral education preferred
- Experience developing faculty and student support solutions preferred
- Editorial and peer reviewer experience preferred
- Experience writing grants and working with foundations preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, teamwork, and human relations skills
- Ability to work with diverse backgrounds in a collaborative manner
- Ability to creatively solve problems
- Ability to write effectively in business and academic styles
- Experience with distance learning preferred
- Some travel required
Salary Range
- $97,253.99 to $175,761.85
