Full-Time DevOps Manager

HappyCo is seeking an experienced DevOps Manager to coordinate the development, management, and maintenance of cloud environments.

Responsibilities:

• Create and manage cloud infrastructure to support HappyCo software development teams.
• Improve reliability, observability, and performance of systems.
• Monitor production systems' health and performance.
• Improve monitoring tools and effectiveness.
• Respond to production events and document issues/incidents.
• Reduce MTTA and MTTR.
• Maintain a proactive security posture.
• Follow security and compliance processes.
• Identify, apply, and coach best practices across the team.

First 2-4 Weeks:

• Get to know leadership, culture, and values
• Complete onboarding
• Onboard with DevOps team
• Familiarize with systems and tools
• Read industry primers
• Attend Company Wide Meeting
• Make initial code change

First 1-6 Months:

• Get acquainted with different departments
• Complete deployments and rollbacks in all environments
• Familiarize with on-call runbooks, processes, and policies
• Review monitoring systems/tools
• Build team profile and career development plans
• Troubleshoot outages in any environment

First 6-12 Months:

• Build tooling and automation for engineers
• Complete team and manager feedback
• Identify risks and opportunities for the next 12-month roadmap

Daily Responsibilities:

• Helping teams with build or cloud infrastructure queries
• Adding to and deploying from IaC build pipeline
• Assisting with investigation, management, and resolution of critical incidents

Required Skills:

• AWS/GCP Cloud Infrastructure and Architecture
• Kubernetes and containerization
• Build Pipeline implementation and strategy
• Team leadership
• Experience with early-stage startups
