HappyCo is seeking an experienced DevOps Manager to coordinate the development, management, and maintenance of cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage cloud infrastructure to support HappyCo software development teams.
- Improve reliability, observability, and performance of systems.
- Monitor production systems' health and performance.
- Improve monitoring tools and effectiveness.
- Respond to production events and document issues/incidents.
- Reduce MTTA and MTTR.
- Maintain a proactive security posture.
- Follow security and compliance processes.
- Identify, apply, and coach best practices across the team.
First 2-4 Weeks:
- Get to know leadership, culture, and values
- Complete onboarding
- Onboard with DevOps team
- Familiarize with systems and tools
- Read industry primers
- Attend Company Wide Meeting
- Make initial code change
First 1-6 Months:
- Get acquainted with different departments
- Complete deployments and rollbacks in all environments
- Familiarize with on-call runbooks, processes, and policies
- Review monitoring systems/tools
- Build team profile and career development plans
- Troubleshoot outages in any environment
First 6-12 Months:
- Build tooling and automation for engineers
- Complete team and manager feedback
- Identify risks and opportunities for the next 12-month roadmap
Daily Responsibilities:
- Helping teams with build or cloud infrastructure queries
- Adding to and deploying from IaC build pipeline
- Assisting with investigation, management, and resolution of critical incidents
Required Skills:
- AWS/GCP Cloud Infrastructure and Architecture
- Kubernetes and containerization
- Build Pipeline implementation and strategy
- Team leadership
- Experience with early-stage startups
