Full-Time Director of Data Engineering

We are seeking a Director of Data Engineering to transform the way Lakeshore uses data to make decisions.

Reporting to the Vice President of IT, you will be the lead technical resource of the team.

Responsibilities Include:

• Establish a solid foundation of data for improved business efficiency and executive situational awareness.
• Be the primary point of contact with internal customers, emphasizing executive presence and a customer-centric approach.
• Manage a team of local and offshore resources working on large enterprise and small ad-hoc requests.
• Coordinate timelines, cross-functional resources, and priorities to ensure program delivery on time.
• Possess extensive experience in data engineering, cloud data warehousing, data architecture, and business intelligence.
• Lead end-to-end responsibility for data collection, transformation, architecture, storage, governance, and usage.
• Set the path for a mature, scalable data environment.
• Establish and govern standards for data and development.
• Lead architecture of the data lake, warehouse, models, marts, and fabric, including tool and partner selection.
• Collaborate with ETL/ELT, Solutions Architecture, and Infrastructure resources to define a scalable, fault-tolerant, near-real-time data asset strategy.
• Manage external and internal data integrations into the data warehouse and BI platforms.
• Guide analytics super-users, BI developers, data engineers, and data scientists.
• Enhance data and analytics navigation for business insight discovery.
• Support the data environment and drive innovation through creative data science solutions.
• Manage vendors and negotiate renewal contracts.
• Participate in department business process, role, and team strategy development.
• Recruit, train, develop, and retain excellent talent.

Qualifications:

• 8-10+ years of experience with an advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or statistics.
• 5+ years of team management experience.
• Deep expertise in data engineering, cloud data warehousing, data architecture, and business intelligence (Snowflake, Redshift, SQL, AWS, Azure, Oracle, QlikView, Domo, BI Publisher, Tableau, GoodData).
• Knowledge of AI disciplines (machine learning, NLP, text analytics, and development lifecycles).
• Strong ability to coordinate timelines, cross-functional resources, and priorities.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects, handle last-minute requests, and complete quick turnarounds.
• Strong attention to detail and proven ability to work quickly and accurately.
• Willingness to challenge existing processes.
• Adaptability in a fluid environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Competitive compensation based on local market (LA/OC) or national market rates.
• Salary range: $147,500 - $206,500.
