Job Details
AECOM is seeking a Solar Engineer for the Renewables and Microgrid Team. This role offers remote work options and locations across the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Solar PV electrical engineering design
- Developing design schedules and budgets
- Supporting business development
- Monitoring project progress
- PV system design (array layouts, string sizing, equipment layouts, utility interconnections)
- Energy production modeling
- Developing construction and equipment specifications
- Engineering calculations (NEC, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection, voltage drop)
- Support drawing production (One-line, three-line diagrams, cable schedules)
- Bill of Materials
- PV system cost estimation and payback evaluations
- Power distribution design
- Supporting projects through life cycle phases
- Participating in client meetings
- Quality control reviews
- Technical proposals
- Estimates for engineering budget and schedule
- Ensure technical and safety standards
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering +4 years of relevant experience
- Experience in electrical design of commercial and utility-scale solar PV and BESS systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eight (8) years of engineering experience preferred
- PE license preferred
- Proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, and Helioscope
- MV AC Collection System Design Experience
- Proficient with NEC, IBC, and NFPA 855
- Familiarity with utility practices, NESC, IEEE, PIP
- Strong communication skills
- Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects
