Timmons Group is seeking an Electrical Senior Engineer - Substation for our Electrical Design Group.
- Focus on assembling and reviewing comprehensive engineering design packages for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage systems.
- Bring technical expertise and leadership to support the design of physical and electrical substation systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prioritize engineering tasks and team deliverables to ensure quality, safety and customer satisfaction while adhering to schedule and budget
- Participate in client meetings and job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data
- Perform necessary calculations and review the preliminary design of facilities and equipment for generation collection, substation, and transmission related facilities including physical arrangements
- Lead, direct and mentor less experienced team members
- Support the development of detailed contracts, manage scopes of work, oversee change orders, and assist with project closeouts
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams
- Leverage existing industry relationships to help grow the firm’s renewable energy client base
Skills/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is strongly preferred
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in distribution, substation, and/or transmission line engineering, with a strong emphasis on substation design
- Prior consulting experience is preferred
- Proficiency in electrical design and analysis software
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
