Role Description:

The country's largest investigative news organization seeks an executive producer to oversee a new podcast series and serve as the primary liaison for audio partnerships. This role is critical for expanding the reach of journalism.

Experience/Skills required:

• Veteran journalist with experience in accountability reporting.
• Track record of creating compelling programs from complex stories and secretive sources.
• Strong management and communication skills.
• 7+ years of experience in audio production.
• Creative sensibility and proven ability to develop/produce great audio storytelling.
• Strong journalistic ethics and fact-checking.
• Strategic expertise in building audio projects.
• Relationship building and collaboration across departments and industries.
• Experience with print/audio journalists and producers.
• Experience packaging projects and securing funding.
• Interest in expanding investigative journalism in audio.
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
• Availability for travel.
• Trauma literacy and experience with complex topics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Selecting and managing podcast hosts.
• Bringing ProPublica's work to life in audio.
• Identifying stories for each season, originating new ideas.
• Structuring, directing, and producing episodes.
• Co-producing podcasts with other media companies.
• Establishing a compelling audio style and narrative voice.
• Advising reporters, providing feedback on scripts/drafts.
• Ensuring strong journalistic ethics and fact-checking.
• Collaborating with business team for production/post-production financing.
• Developing relationships with production partners and securing distribution.
• Coordinating publicity around audio releases.

Additional Requirements:

• Organization of auditions to select hosts.
• Identify stories/ideas for the program.
• Establish a compelling audio style and narrative voice for ProPublica.
• Advise reporting and provide feedback on scripts.
• Ensure journalistic ethics and fact-checking throughout production.
• Collaborate with business team to secure funding.
• Develop new relationships with production partners and secure distribution.
• Work with partners/communications team to coordinate publicity.

Compensation: $150,000 - $175,000 (negotiable)
