Field Service Technician II

This position requires daily travel with primary responsibility for the equipment at the Laredo Border Crossing.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots, services, installs, and repairs Trace, X-Ray, CT X-Ray and Cargo Inspection equipment at customer sites.
  • Maintains field service log and filing system.
  • Demonstrates initiative and dedication through positive use of downtime and exceeding customer/company requirements.
  • Conducts follow-up calls with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Meets daily service repair needs and drives customer satisfaction.
  • Fosters positive customer relations.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains equipment in the field; provides customer training.
  • Responds to emergency/non-scheduled calls within established response time goals.
  • Completes all scheduled maintenance within deadlines.
  • Documents inspections, maintenance, and repair work.
  • Orders, installs, and returns parts and manages repair parts cycle time.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of parts and tools.
  • Maintains technical certifications.
  • Reviews logs for open issues and prepares formal reports.
  • Participates in service sales opportunities.
  • Seeks knowledge growth from senior FSTs.
  • Ensures tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Assesses product/equipment performance and recommends modifications/improvements.
  • Provides technical support.
  • May participate in site surveys, pilot programs, attend meetings, champion special projects, and prepare reports.
  • Possesses technical knowledge on company Trace and X-Ray technologies.
  • Maintains clear and concise communication.
  • Establishes/maintains relationships with senior FSTs and Product Managers.
  • Exercises cost control and revenue maximization.
  • Submits expenses, time cards, and other administrative tasks within timelines.
  • Travel, overtime, and non-Monday-Friday work hours may be required.
  • Complies with health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Complies with export control and security regulations.
  • Other duties as required.

Education/Training:

  • Associate's Degree/Related Trade Certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical)
  • Military Training (electrical, mechanical, electronics)
  • Equivalence via related work experience (over 3 years)
  • Computer literacy; competency in MS Office Suite; aptitude for specialized software.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical/electronic systems/equipment.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills and customer focus.
  • Responsive to all customer issues.
  • Willingness to travel.

Supervises:

  • Supervision may be required on a project basis.

Background:

  • Requires Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting.
  • Federal background investigation required.
  • May require a U.S. Personal Security Clearance.

  • Customer locations (airports, correctional facilities, courthouses, cruise ships, etc.)
