Field Service Technician II
This position requires daily travel with primary responsibility for the equipment at the Laredo Border Crossing.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots, services, installs, and repairs Trace, X-Ray, CT X-Ray and Cargo Inspection equipment at customer sites.
- Maintains field service log and filing system.
- Demonstrates initiative and dedication through positive use of downtime and exceeding customer/company requirements.
- Conducts follow-up calls with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Meets daily service repair needs and drives customer satisfaction.
- Fosters positive customer relations.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains equipment in the field; provides customer training.
- Responds to emergency/non-scheduled calls within established response time goals.
- Completes all scheduled maintenance within deadlines.
- Documents inspections, maintenance, and repair work.
- Orders, installs, and returns parts and manages repair parts cycle time.
- Maintains an accurate inventory of parts and tools.
- Maintains technical certifications.
- Reviews logs for open issues and prepares formal reports.
- Participates in service sales opportunities.
- Seeks knowledge growth from senior FSTs.
- Ensures tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
- Assesses product/equipment performance and recommends modifications/improvements.
- Provides technical support.
- May participate in site surveys, pilot programs, attend meetings, champion special projects, and prepare reports.
- Possesses technical knowledge on company Trace and X-Ray technologies.
- Maintains clear and concise communication.
- Establishes/maintains relationships with senior FSTs and Product Managers.
- Exercises cost control and revenue maximization.
- Submits expenses, time cards, and other administrative tasks within timelines.
- Travel, overtime, and non-Monday-Friday work hours may be required.
- Complies with health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Complies with export control and security regulations.
- Other duties as required.
Education/Training:
- Associate's Degree/Related Trade Certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical)
- Military Training (electrical, mechanical, electronics)
- Equivalence via related work experience (over 3 years)
- Computer literacy; competency in MS Office Suite; aptitude for specialized software.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical/electronic systems/equipment.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Excellent communication skills and customer focus.
- Responsive to all customer issues.
- Willingness to travel.
Supervises:
- Supervision may be required on a project basis.
Background:
- Requires Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting.
- Federal background investigation required.
- May require a U.S. Personal Security Clearance.
Other Requirements:

- Ability to lift/carry 80 lbs.

- Customer locations (airports, correctional facilities, courthouses, cruise ships, etc.)
