Job Details
This position requires daily travel to locations in and around the Austin area, including the airport.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, service, install, and repair Trace, X-Ray, CT X-ray and Cargo Inspection equipment at customer sites.
- Maintain field service log and filing system.
- Provide assistance to the Technical Support staff when not traveling or on shift.
- Conduct follow-up calls with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Mentor lower-level FSTs.
- Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
- Foster positive customer relations.
- Install, repair, and maintain equipment; provide customer training.
- Respond to emergency and non-scheduled calls within established response time goals.
- Complete scheduled maintenance within required deadlines.
- Document inspections, maintenance, and repair work; submit paperwork.
- Order, install, and return parts; manage repair parts cycle time.
- Maintain accurate inventory of parts and tools.
- Maintain technical certifications.
- Review logs for open issues and prepare formal reports.
- Participate in Service Sales opportunities; promote and implement revenue programs.
- Seek knowledge growth and support from senior FSTs.
- Maintain tools and test equipment.
- Assess product performance; recommend modifications.
- Provide technical support to customers and service professionals.
- Participate in site surveys, pilot programs, and meetings; champion special projects.
- Prepare exclusive reports.
- Maintain clear and concise communication.
- Establish and maintain relationships with senior FSTs and Product Managers.
- Control and minimize costs while maximizing revenue.
- Submit expenses, timecards, and administrative tasks within timelines.
- Comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies; export controls and security regulations.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education/Training:
- Associate’s Degree/Related Trade Certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical)
- Military Training (electrical, mechanical, electronics)
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical and electronic systems.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong customer focus and teamwork orientation
- Responsiveness to customer issues
- Willingness and ability to travel at short notice
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable
- Excellent telephone skills
- Ability to lift/carry 80 lbs.
- Ability to push/pull 200 lbs.
- Ability to move equipment weighing up to 1000 lbs.
- Full body mobility for bending, stooping, twisting, and working in unusual positions.
- Ability to work safely in extreme environments.
Work Environment:
- Customer locations, including airports, correctional facilities, courthouses, cruise ships, etc.
