Who you are: Combines exceptional conceptual skills with a well-honed understanding of effective written and oral communication. Oversees content output of creative team in an effort to elevate the storytelling aspect of our deliverables. Ensures that all content (for a diverse set of media including, but not limited to, print, collateral, video, digital, etc) is consistent with strategy, brand guidelines, and industry rules.
Presents work with comprehensive knowledge and narrative flair; defends work with logic, creativity, and (appropriate) passion. Creates meaningful working relationships with account, strategy and project management teams. Establishes productive rapport and communication with clients to ensure strategic intent and narrative integrity for all deliverables. Solves day-to-day resource issues. Mentors junior staff.
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
- Writing Oversees the content development of multiple brands, ensuring strategic intent for all pieces is achieved through content.
- Mentors junior creatives, reviewing their work and ensuring strategic intent for tactic is achieved through content.
- Supports strategy in the creation of strategic documents that require wordsmithing.
- Concept Partners with an art director to develop compelling creative concepts. Maintains awareness of competitive campaigns to ensure differentiation of concepts presented.
- Presenting Presents to and communicates with clients without supervision. Client communications should lead to a shared understanding of changes needed and next steps for all deliverables. This includes: Articulating storyflow ensuring client buy-in Offering strategic rationale for what was created Explaining deliberate tone differentiation from competition
- Team Interaction/Management Works closely with junior writers to ensure clarity on tactics, appropriate source material, timing, and brief in order to execute copy development properly. Work with other team members to find solutions to challenging problems. Responsible for strong relationships with other agency team members outside of the creative group along as well as clients
- Product and Content Knowledge Understands products, competitors, market dynamics, and changes likely to impact category. Complete understanding of MOA, product emotional/functional benefits, brand narrative, and competitive landscape
- Strategy Ensures tactics are strategically executed, and ladders up to greater strategic objective(s) of brand
- Business Development Provides conceptual content, or content strategy for new business pitches as needed
- Creative and Agency Leadership Understands the different agency offerings. Takes time to educate internal team on what great content looks like. As needed, develops and internally markets best practices for copy document creation, brand narrative format, message matrix development, and other pieces
