Job Details
We’re looking for an Infrastructure Backup Engineer to provide high-quality Infrastructure backup support to a large multi-client community. The role involves supporting MS Windows server and requires a good understanding of Unix and Linux technologies. The engineer will ensure the effective operation and availability of the backup Infrastructure for both external and internal customers.
Responsibilities:
- Providing day to day global operational activities for Backup/Recovery teams.
- Administering Enterprise Backup/Restore and Archival and Retrieval.
- Ensuring all support calls are dealt with within the SLA timescales.
- Responsible for capacity planning and performance analysis of backup and recovery infrastructure.
- Creating and Managing Dataset, Schedule and Retention Policy.
- Monitoring AVAMAR backups and recovering failed backups.
- Configuring/Managing VMware, OVM & OSSP backups.
- Ensuring backup of critical system/application infrastructure via Avamar.
- Responsible for advanced troubleshooting of Backup/Recovery related issues.
- Proactive backup maintenance of systems, installing patches, upgrades etc.
- Carrying out all backups and log checking.
- Identifying, interpreting and evaluating system and network requirements.
- Able to produce reports from Avamar to assist in backup success/failure, capacity planning and consolidation.
