iSeries System Administrator

Main Responsibilities:

1. Manage and maintain IBM i-series (AS400) systems, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.
2. Perform resource planning and capacity management for iSeries systems.
3. Apply PTFs (Program Temporary Fixes) and CUMEs (Cumulative PTF Packages) to keep the operating system up-to-date and secure.
4. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot performance issues to ensure optimal operation.
5. Implement security measures to protect system data and information on iSeries systems.
6. Assist with 3rd party license management and maintenance to keep 3rd party application current
7. Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement system enhancements and upgrades for iSeries.
8. Manage and monitor backup and recovery processes for iSeries to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery capabilities.
9. Resolve iSeries infrastructure break/fix issues and enhancements in a timely manner.
10. Participate in an on-call rotation to support system emergencies.
11. Maintain accurate documentation for iSeries systems and integrations.
12. Liaise with third-party partners/vendors for prompt rectification of problems or emergencies related to iSeries.
13. Provide working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems for application integrations.
14. Provide working knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 networking to assist in troubleshooting connectivity issues between systems.
15. Support cross-platform application integrations involving IBM iSeries, Windows, and Linux systems.
16. Ensure seamless communication and data flow between integrated systems across platforms.
17. Experience with IBM i-Series (AS400) systems, including troubleshooting and patching.
18. Working knowledge of CL and RPG programming.
19. Working knowledge of DB2 for i (database design and maintenance, SQL, performance turning).
20. Working knowledge of native job schedules and 3rd party schedulers like Robot.
21. Experience with iSeries Security Concepts (object level security, authority lists, security audits, system values).
22. Experience with IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS) including deployment, managing databases, spool files, jobs etc.
23. Experience with Printer Management (output queues and writers).
24. Experience with Service Tools (DST).
25. Experience with IBM Cloud Power VS workspaces.
26. Experience with Windows and Linux servers in an enterprise environment.
27. Experience with network protocols, firewall rules, and basic connectivity troubleshooting.
28. Experience with backup and recovery using tools like BRMS.
29. Knowledge of VTL systems such as Falconstore.
30. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
31. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
32. Highly self-motivated and directed.
33. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze complex issues in iSeries systems.
34. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
