Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Portfolio Specialist leads the discovery of all IT project requests to develop scope, budget and estimated timeline to complete the initiative. They are leaders in working with the client, IT technical resources, and leadership through the initiate and discovery lifecycle phases of a project in support of the organizations IT direction. He/she should have a highly collaborative approach to the business, strong interpersonal and influencing skills. The specialist should also be comfortable leading market based / remote teams; dealing with ambiguity; strong organizational, planning and communications skills; while being proactive, detail oriented and a strong team player.
Essential Job Functions

- Demonstrable commitment to their project (accountability and leadership)
- Strong communications; written and oral
- An approach and desire to remove roadblocks, resolve issues and mitigate risks
- Demonstrated experience in building win-win relationships with Business and IS partners
- Ability to work with requests that have multiple stakeholders
- Technology capabilities are less important, but the Coordinator must be able to work with and gain the
- confidence of technologists
- Must have the discipline and rigor to optimally use the project management tool set
- Must have a commitment to produce and deliver high quality project plans, status updates and reports in conjunction with the technical project leaders
- Solid presentation skills

Licensing/Certification
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Program Management Professional (PgMP ) Certification (preferred)
Education
4 year Bachelor's Degree (required)
Work Experience
1 year of IT experience in a Healthcare environment (required)
5 years of IT experience in a Healthcare environment (preferred)
Skills
Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project
Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively follow up with resources
