AECOM has a position opening for a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our growing Energy Business Line. AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at various Energy offices across the United States through our Freedom to Grow program.
Our team provides electrical engineering services across various markets, including transmission, power distribution, renewables, and next-generation energy.
Responsibilities include:
- Mentoring other electrical engineers.
- Supporting the Chief Electrical engineer on workload forecasts, design schedules, and budgets.
- Performing Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis).
- Directing electrical infrastructure physical layout.
- Developing one-line and three-line diagrams, construction and equipment specifications, protective relay and metering diagrams.
- Creating wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, and plan drawings (grounding, lighting, raceway, cable tray plans).
- Preparing electrical lists (cable, conduit, load, equipment lists).
- Performing calculations (ampacity, cable sizing, conduit sizing, transformer sizing, grounding analysis).
- Developing equipment specifications and data sheets.
- Reviewing engineering work performed by peers.
- Attending client meetings.
- Occasional travel to client and/or project sites.
Specific responsibilities for this Level:
- Providing technical input to studies and design.
- Providing technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
- Presenting complex technical solutions to clients.
- Performing quality control reviews.
- Participating in proposal development.
- Providing estimates for engineering budget and schedule.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 6+ years of relevant electrical experience
- EIT Certification with willingness to attain professional engineering license
Preferred Qualifications:
- ABET accredited degree
- PE licensure
- 3+ years as discipline technical lead on projects
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Successful track record working with remote teams
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, NESC, IEEE)
- Familiarity with building codes and standards
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects
- Plant Startup and Commissioning Field Experience
- Power systems analysis software experience (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower)
- Solar or wind facility experience
- Experience working in collaborative 3D model environments (e.g. Navisworks) and laser scan data
