Full-Time Lead Journalist

Spotlight Sports Group is a global media and technology company specializing in content and data within sports betting, horse racing, and fantasy sports.

Key accountabilities/responsibilities:

• Write bloodstock news, racing stories, and features in a timely and accurate manner.
• Help plan editorial content with the bloodstock international editor.
• Attend major sales and events in Australasia when required.
• Monitor the bloodstock market and trends in the industry.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key industry figures.
• Social media duties, including posting editorial content and breaking news on X, Facebook, and Instagram.
• Any other duties as and when required, including proofing and writing Australasian-focused features for Racing Post Bloodstock desk.
• Follow house style and adhere to media and copyright law.
• Build and nurture a strong network of contacts in the racing industry.

Requirements:

• Excellent knowledge and keen interest in Australasian bloodstock, horse racing, and an understanding of the betting industry.
• Sales reporting experience.
• Varied and excellent contacts within the racing and bloodstock industry.
• Ability to work under pressure on varied tasks with demanding deadlines.
• High standard of written English.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience of working in an editorial team.
