We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Linux Server Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Linux-based server infrastructure.
The role involves maintaining and updating preproduction environments, supporting software engineers in maintaining the Linux development ecosystem.
The ideal candidate ensures high availability, security, and performance of Ubuntu servers in development, staging, and production environments.
The Linux Server Administrator reports directly to the Group Head of R&D and collaborates with R&D Engineering and Delivery teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining Ubuntu Server systems (physical, virtual, and cloud).
- Monitoring server performance and implementing system tuning and optimization.
- Managing system security (user access, firewalls, patching, hardening).
- Automating routine tasks using scripting (Bash, Python).
- Managing backups, disaster recovery, and failover solutions.
- Configuring and maintaining services (Apache/Nginx, MySQL/MongoDB, SSH, DNS, FTP, Redis, RabbitMQ).
- Administering virtualization platforms (KVM) and the private cloud.
- Maintaining accurate documentation.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Collaborating with development and DevOps teams for deployment pipelines and CI/CD.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience as a Linux or System Administrator.
- Strong experience with Ubuntu Server (22.04 or newer).
- Proficiency in Linux command-line tools and shell scripting.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
- Experience with version control tools like Git.
- Knowledge of Bash scripting (a plus).
- Familiarity with administration of Apache, PHP, MySQL, and MongoDB (a plus).
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Ubuntu or Linux-related certifications (LPIC, CompTIA Linux+) are a plus.
Salary: $88,000-$110,000 (based on experience and location) with full benefits.
