Full-Time Manager, Strategic Data Sourcing

The Manager, Strategic Data Sourcing will play a critical role in Assent’s data strategy and product development by owning the strategy and execution of data collection from public and third-party sources. This role will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and analysts to build and scale Assent’s external data assets. By designing and implementing efficient sourcing pipelines, you will ensure that Assent can capture, transform, and deliver high-quality data to power our products and insights. You will establish and promote best practices for data sourcing, integration, quality, and governance, while also contributing directly to the company’s long-term data strategy. Key Requirements and Responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategy for sourcing data from public, partner, and third-party sources to build Assent’s strategic data assets.
• Lead day-to-day operations, growth, and development for a team of engineers and analysts focused on data acquisition, processing, and enrichment.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure sourced data aligns with business priorities and regulatory standards.
• Develop repeatable processes and scalable pipelines for data acquisition, transformation, and integration.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability where complex sourcing challenges are solved with creativity and measurable results.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and ethical collection practices across all sourcing initiatives.
• Monitor industry trends, technologies, and open data initiatives to identify new opportunities for sourcing valuable data.
• Establish success metrics and continuously optimize sourcing strategies to maximize coverage, efficiency, and impact.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills — you communicate proactively, clearly, concisely, and with tact.

• Bachelor’s or College Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related (Master’s degree preferred).
• Proven experience designing and executing data sourcing strategies, including public data collection, web scraping, open data integration, or API-based acquisition.
• Strong people leadership experience with demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and mentor high-performing technical teams.
• Expertise in building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines, using tools such as Python, Spark, AWS data stack, or similar.
• Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and ethical considerations in sourcing data from public and third-party sources.
• Strong ability to gain alignment across cross-functional teams; understand business needs, and develop processes to support them.
• Agile development experience and a proven track record of driving initiatives from strategy through to execution.
