Reporting to the executive editor of Axios Local, the Managing editor of the South will sharpen news coverage, support talent, and drive Axios to future successes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee remote reporters/editors covering 5-7 cities.
- Help hire and train reporters for a daily Axios Local newsletter (Smart Brevity style).
- Maintain editorial standards, prioritizing audience needs.
Ideal Candidates:
- Embody entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios' mission.
- Strong management skills to lead and support a team of journalists.
- Experience in fast-paced news environments.
- Strong writing/editing skills (online, newsletters, cross-platform).
- Experience working across teams.
- Knowledge of digital/social media.
- Excellent verbal/written communication.
- Ability to manage multiple stories.
Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 (location-dependent).
