Job Summary:
The clinical instructor implements the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and supervises clinical experiences for nursing students.
- Evaluates student performance and provides documented feedback.
- Provides remediation to students as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Develops and posts clinical assignments.
- Corrects and returns student work in a timely manner.
- Contributes to program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- May teach didactic course content under supervision.
- Keeps the course coordinator informed of student and agency issues.
- Works with administration, staff, and other faculty to improve college operation and student satisfaction.
- Participates in college assessment, retention efforts, and departmental/campus policies.
- Serves as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students.
- Utilizes relationship skills for group problem-solving and negotiation.
- Complies with regulatory rules and standards.
- Reports to dean, assistant dean, or course coordinator.
Requirements:
- Master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Unencumbered professional nursing license in Illinois.
- At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in instruction as a registered nurse.
- Teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not required.
- Genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning.
- Exceptional subject matter expertise and excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- Eagerness to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect, and care.
- Sense of responsibility and purpose to enrich colleagues, students, and the broader community.
Availability:
Weekend availability required: Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. Clinical location TBD.
Compensation:
The expected compensation rate is between $1,120 and $7,245 per assignment. Actual pay may vary based on job-related factors.
