The Role:We are seeking a senior level, experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL), field-based scientific/clinical expert reporting to the Senior Director, MSLs in Medical Affairs. The MSL must have strong clinical and/or scientific backgrounds and excellent communication skills. The MSL identifies, develops, and manages relationships with current and future Healthcare Providers (HCPs) in academic and community practices. Mentorship and oversight responsibilities are assigned for a portion of the U.S. This position is remote, field-based with significant in-person travel required within your assigned region, and ride-alongs with other MSLs. Virtual engagement with customers is also expected across the US.
What You’ll Do:
- Exchange complex medical & scientific information with the oncology community.
- Develop valued relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and disease experts.
- Provide medical/scientific presentations to internal & external groups.
- Provide internal stakeholders with feedback and insights from HCP interactions. Face-to-face interactions are preferred, with some virtual component.
- Assist with awareness of company-sponsored clinical trials and investigator-initiated trials (ISTs).
- Support professional meetings, including staffing exhibits, competitive intelligence gathering, and tool development.
- Adhere to corporate and healthcare compliance guidance.
- Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in specific therapeutic areas; review scientific journals, and attend meetings.
- Represent the company and Medical Affairs during exchanges with the medical/scientific community.
- Establish collaborative peer-to-peer relationships with Oncologists, and relevant HCPs within assigned territory.
- Respond to unsolicited scientific information requests.
- Engage with assigned Medical Groups to support scientific and research needs.
- Facilitate investigator interactions with Medical Directors and other stakeholders.
Medical Solutions Lead Responsibilities (30%):
- Lead the creation of scientific materials (slide decks, collaterals) for field use.
- Contribute to congress strategy, including content development for medical booths and non-promotional symposiums.
- Assist with training materials and programs, ensuring MSL expertise.
- Assist with MSL curriculum development, onboarding, and continual training.
- Develop MSL-focused training modules, including disease state, therapeutic landscape, competitive intelligence, and product data.
What You’ll Bring:
- Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, RN/NP, or PA-C) preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in oncological malignancies or a rare disease.
- 8+ years of field-based MSL experience or similar MA experience.
- 8+ years of industry experience (biotech/pharmaceutical/medical device). Clinical experience considered.
- Experience with clinical research, publications, congress/conference presentations.
- Experience with MSL training materials and coaching.
- Strong PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills.
- Veeva CRM (or other CRM), Veeva Vault, SharePoint and/or BOX experience preferred.
- Ability to build relationships with KOLs; significant face-to-face interaction required.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of ICH guidelines, FDA regulations, PhRMA Principles, and OIG compliance.
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 70% travel (including weekends and overnight) within assigned region and across US as needed.
- Monthly travel to Waltham HQ expected.
