Longbridge is seeking a Mortgage Compliance Officer to join our Compliance Department.
This newly created role will report to the Sr. Vice President of Compliance and Legal.
The role is remote, hybrid, or in-office.
The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all mortgage banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with mortgage banking laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Working with the Compliance Management System (CMS).
- Assisting with compliance and risk management monitoring, reporting, and remediation.
- Identifying and providing compliance training to business units.
- Ensuring proper controls for collecting, reviewing, and submitting HMDA data and Mortgage Call Reports.
- Deep knowledge of state and federal consumer regulations (e.g., Licensing, TILA, HMDA, RESPA, UDAAP, non-bank CRA requirements, and SOX).
- Performing Fair Lending analysis and reviews, preparing reports and recommendations for remediation.
- Reviewing regulatory changes and advising on policy/procedural changes.
- Managing compliance monitoring programs based on risk assessments, audit findings, and exam findings.
- Creating and implementing new monitoring programs.
- Overseeing monthly regulatory compliance reviews, identifying weaknesses and working on remediation.
- Contributing to the compliance training program (developing courses, webinars, etc.).
- Acting as an internal point of contact for compliance questions.
- Investigating compliance breaches, managing resolution, and preventing future occurrences.
- Attending and participating in committee meetings.
- Assisting with audit functions (coordination with internal/external audits).
- Participating in SOX related diligence projects and audits.
- Assisting with BSA/AML/CIP/OFAC program (e.g., completing Suspicious Activity Reports).
- Reverse mortgage experience is a plus.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience in a mid-level mortgage compliance role at a financial institution.
- CRCM designation a plus.
- Experience in managing compliance staff, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Extensive knowledge of mortgage banking and consumer compliance laws/regulations.
- Ability to influence senior management.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and strong relationship building skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience managing/participating in exam management and communicating with regulators.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and communication (verbal/written) skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
