Part-Time MSN FNP-Faculty

WHAT TO EXPECT AS A WALDEN FACULTY MEMBER Faculty members educate Walden University students using online technology and resources to impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique in thoughtful, well-written, and timely communications. Responsibilities include grading assignments, participating in discussions, responding to student emails, and using technology to enhance the learning experience. This environment respects students, faculty, Walden University, and the discipline.

TRAINING New faculty receive training in online teaching techniques, electronic learning platforms, school/college policies/procedures/programs, Walden culture, academic integrity assessment, and research supervision. Successful training is a prerequisite for teaching and mentorship assignments. A faculty peer mentor may be assigned during the first term to support instruction and provide classroom reviews.

COURSE/ TEACHING AVAILABILITY Faculty teach courses using Canvas, interacting with students within the platform. Discussion boards are open 24/7. Minimum 4 days/week classroom presence is required, and responses to student questions must be within 48 hours. Regular online availability (office hours/chats) is suggested.

TOOLS/ TECHNICAL SKILLS Successful job performance requires proficiency in essential duties, evaluated based on performance. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

LICENSING/ CERTIFICATION Faculty must be credentialed, currently practicing as an FNP, hold an earned degree from an accredited institution, and potentially be licensed/license-eligible. Maintaining licenses/certifications is required, and staying current in research is expected through journal reviews. RN and APRN licensure in Minnesota is required for NP Faculty, along with current Advanced Practice certification. Bonus potential on hire.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Earned Doctorate, professional scholarly contributions, minimum one year of higher education teaching experience, current clinical experience in NP practice, and 1-2 years of online teaching experience is required.

TRAVEL Contributing faculty may travel to university events and residencies. Core faculty travel throughout the year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Primarily office environment with potential exposure to moderate noise. Extensive personal computer use (6-8 hours daily).

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS Personal computer with virus protection and internet access is required. Walden provides email, learning platform, faculty website sections, and communication tools.

Compensation Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter/Semester, Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter.
