Part-Time MSN FNP-Faculty

WHAT TO EXPECT AS A WALDEN FACULTY MEMBER Faculty members educate Walden University students using online technology and resources. They provide knowledge, information, feedback, and critique in thoughtful, well-written, and timely communications. Faculty grade assignments, participate in discussions, respond to student emails, and use technology to enhance the learning experience.

TRAINING New faculty receive training in online teaching techniques, learning platform use, policies, procedures, degree programs, academic integrity, and research supervision.

COURSE/ TEACHING AVAILABILITY Courses are taught using Canvas, and faculty interact with students within Canvas. Discussion Boards are open 24/7. Faculty are expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days/wk, and respond to student questions within 48 hrs. Online office hours or regular online chats are suggested.

TOOLS/ TECHNICAL SKILLS Individuals must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Evaluations consider performance of each function. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

LICENSING/ CERTIFICATION Faculty must be credentialed, currently work as an FNP, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution, and may be licensed or license-eligible. Maintaining licenses and certifications is required. Faculty must stay current with research.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Earned Doctorate, professional contributions to field, minimum of one year of higher education teaching experience, current clinical experience, and 1-2 years of online teaching experience are required.

TRAVEL Contributing faculty may travel to university events. Core faculty have required travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Primarily office environment, may involve moderate noise. Involves personal computer operation for 6-8 hours daily.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS Personal computer with virus protection and internet access are required. Walden provides email, learning platform, and other communications tools.

COMPENSATION Graduate course instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester; undergraduate course instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter. Actual pay may vary.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES Dissertation/doctoral study committee chair, research reviewing, and dissertation/doctoral mentoring.
