GENERAL SUMMARY: The College of Nursing seeks dynamic, innovative faculty for part-time (contributing) positions in the Master of Science in Nursing program. Key responsibilities include teaching advanced pharmacology courses for nurse practitioner students. This position reports to the Clinical Core Specialty Coordinator.
Responsibilities Include:
- Teaching advanced pharmacology courses
- Working with other faculty and administrators
- Maintaining a program of scholarship/practice
- Assisting with faculty orientation, development, mentoring, and evaluation
- Participating in college/university committees
Specific Requirements:
- Earned Doctorate
- Higher Ed teaching experience
- Current Pharmacist/PharmD or active Nurse Practitioner Practice and Scholarship
Walden University Faculty Expectations:
- Effective use of online technology
- Thoughtful, timely, and well-written communication with students
- Respect for students, faculty, the university, and the discipline
- Adherence to all Walden University Faculty expectations
Course Teaching/Availability:
- Asynchronous course teaching using Canvas
- Minimum 4 days per week online classroom presence
- Responding to student questions within 48 hours
- Verifying student postings/submissions
- Providing feedback and grades through Canvas
- Publishing availability to students
Work Environment: Primarily virtual. Daily computer operation (6-8 hours). Traditional office setting physical demands.
Education & Experience:
- Earned Doctorate in Pharmacy or Nurse Practitioner degree
- Current pharmacology patient care experience
- Professional scholarly contributions
- Higher Education teaching experience (preferred)
- Recent clinical/practical experience (preferred)
- Commitment to distance learning student needs
- Excellent communication, leadership, team, and interpersonal skills
- Current licensure in US state (required)
- Experience with distance learning (preferred)
Technology Requirements:
- Adequate computer, keyboard, pointing device, and monitor
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Zip software, Adobe Acrobat
- Reliable internet access (with backup)
Licensing/Certifications:
- Appropriate credentials and degree from accredited institution
- Maintain all licenses and certifications
- Stay current with research (journals, articles, presentations)
Compensation: Graduate instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester (variable). Undergraduate instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter (variable).
