UpNorthNews is seeking a Wisconsin-based Newsletter Editor to join our state network’s Newsletter Department.
The Newsletter Editor will take ownership of and produce our state-based flagship email product—ensuring it delivers an approachable blend of local news, political coverage, and lifestyle stories—while also developing their own branded product, all in service of driving subscriber growth and long-term engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Writing and curating content for the flagship newsletter
- Experimenting with different ways to market and grow subscriber lists
- Using audience feedback and engagement metrics to refine content strategy
- Producing presenter-led videos and other multimedia content for social platforms
- Pitch, pilot, and launch a new niche newsletter product
- Publish wire and/or Creative Commons articles to the newsroom’s website
- Update the homepage regularly
- Analyze audience data and implement A/B testing
Requirements:
- Experience in newsletter writing, editing, or production
- Strong writing and editing skills
- A passion for building long-term engagement
- Familiarity with using email analytics and performance metrics
- Experience using an email service provider
- Familiarity with tools like Canva, Capcut, Descript, etc.
- A strong grasp on AP style
