Part-Time Nursing Faculty (Tempo Learning)

GENERAL SUMMARY: Tempo Learning faculty subject matter experts (faculty SMEs) are student-facing faculty roles. Faculty SMEs are faculty members assigned to one or more competencies based on their subject matter expertise.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work directly with students to assist with any questions or challenges.
• Initiate regular and substantive academic engagement with each student.
• Hold weekly office hours.
• Respond to student questions through discussion boards and emails.
• Use detailed rubrics to validate student assessment.
• Provide feedback to encourage learners.
• Track student engagement using learning and behavioral analytics.
• Assure curriculum quality and recommend updates.
• Establish regular and structured contact with students.
• Develop sensitivity to cultural differences.
• Encourage students to take risks and learn from mistakes.
• Create an atmosphere of mutual respect.
• Monitor students’ work for academic integrity.

Faculty Expectations:

• Effectively use online technology and resources.
• Communicate thoughtfully and timely.
• Adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations.

Course Teaching/Availability:

• Collaborate with Academic Coaches.
• Respond to student inquiries within 48 hours.
• Return assessments with feedback within 72 hours.
• Publish availability to students.

Technology Requirements:

• Use Microsoft Office products, zip software, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Maintain reliable Internet access.

Licensing/Certification:

• Maintain licenses and certifications.
• Maintain currency with research.
