Job Details

Brightspeed is seeking an Operations Technician to support life and safety customers. This role requires strong cross-functional collaboration and offers the opportunity for significant business impact. Key responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring and maintaining the Brightspeed transport network.
  • Opening trouble tickets and coordinating repairs with field operations and tech support.
  • Applying equipment-specific maintenance procedures and assisting in equipment restoration.
  • Leading equipment and facility repairs.
  • Understanding Optical/DWDM transport network topology and digital loop carrier (DLC).
  • Making critical maintenance decisions based on network status.
  • Analyzing network events and prioritizing critical issues to maintain network reliability.
  • Following MOPs, anticipating problems, and taking proactive corrective action.
  • Researching technical issues through vendor documentation.
  • Working with minimal supervision in a 24x7 NOC environment.
  • Communicating effectively with peers, other centers, off-net providers, and customers.
  • Maintaining excellent acknowledgement and response time to alarms and customer calls.
  • Providing high-quality documentation of network failures and maintenance activity.
  • Establishing factual data for management and vendors to understand problems and prevent recurrence.
  • Verifying network subsystem operation through system performance data analysis.
  • Proposing and implementing solutions to identified problems.
  • Working with vendors to resolve problems.
  • Analyzing, diagnosing, sectionalizing, isolating, and resolving trouble situations.
  • Managing and correlating multiple trouble reports.
  • Communicating with internal customers in repair situations.
  • Providing Tier I/II support in supported platforms.
  • Managing and guiding restoration bridges during outage conditions.
  • Providing direct support to technicians in restoration activities.
  • Interacting with all Tier repair teams.
  • Initiating internal/external escalations as necessary.
  • Providing assistance to peers and participating in repair process improvement.
  • Providing follow-up and closure of assigned trouble tickets.
  • Providing direct training to technicians.
