Brightspeed is seeking an Operations Technician III to join their team.

The Operations Technician III will monitor and maintain ethernet/IP networks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Opening trouble tickets.
  • Repairing network equipment/facilities with field operations, tech support, and other teams.
  • Assisting field operations with card swaps and equipment restoration.
  • Driving equipment and facility repair.
  • Following MOPs, anticipating problems, and taking corrective action.
  • Understanding and researching technical issues using vendor documentation.
  • Understanding telecom, network topology, and repair procedures.
  • Working in a NOC environment with minimal supervision, sometimes for extended hours, including all hours in a 24x7 environment.
  • Communicating effectively with peers, other NOC centers, off-net providers, and customers.
  • Maintaining excellent acknowledgement and response time to alarms and customer calls.
  • Providing high-quality documentation of network failures and maintenance activity.
  • Establishing factual data for management and vendors to understand problems and prevent recurrence.
  • Analyzing, diagnosing, sectionalizing, isolating, and resolving trouble situations.
  • Managing and correlating multiple trouble reports.
  • Communicating with internal customers during repair situations.
  • Providing Tier I/II support on supported platforms.
  • Managing and guiding restoration bridges during outages.
  • Providing direct support to technicians in restoration activities.
  • Interacting with Tier repair teams and initiating internal/external escalations.
  • Providing follow-up and closure of assigned trouble tickets.
  • Working in a 24x7 environment, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of network architecture of ethernet network services and systems.
  • Basic knowledge of ethernet technology platforms, including lower-level applications and configurations.
  • Knowledge of Element Management Systems (EMS), Operational Support Systems (OSS), network inventory, alarming, provisioning, and other support systems (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including interaction with all company levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related experience, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia platforms.
  • Layers 2 & 3 switch and router configuration and management.
  • Experience isolating telecom and/or network outage causes and service restorations.
  • Advanced customer service, organizational interaction, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication (oral and written), customer service, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.

Bonus Points:

  • Telecom/Cable/Internet Service Provider industry experience.
  • IP Certification.
