Opportunity at a Glance Contributing faculty members serve in a part-time capacity to educate Walden University Students. They effectively and proficiently use online technology and resources to impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique in thoughtful, timely communications. This is done respectfully of students, the Faculty Member, Walden University, and the discipline.
Responsibilities
- Training: All new Faculty Members receive training on teaching techniques, e-learning platforms, school/college policies, procedures, and degree programs. Training also includes assessment of academic integrity (Turnitin), and research supervision.
- Course Teaching: Faculty members are assigned a course taught on the eCollege platform. Interaction with students, posting on discussion boards (24/7), and timely responses (within 48 hours) are required.
- Availability: Faculty members are expected to be reasonably accessible to students outside of the discussion board, providing substantive feedback. Availability should be published in course syllabi.
- Residencies: Participation in domestic/international residencies (optional for part-time faculty) may be required.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
- Compliance: Adhere to all University policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Education: DNP or PhD in Nursing or a related field (or recognized by a country’s Ministry of Education or Counsel of Higher Education).
- Experience: 1+ year teaching experience at the degree level, 1+ year of online/technology-enabled instruction experience, and at least 1 year of current practice experience as a PNP.
- Licenses: RN and APRN license in one of the 50 states (Minnesota preferred), willingness to acquire a Minnesota license.
- Technical Skills: Adequate computer, keyboard, pointing device, and monitor. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, zip software, Adobe Acrobat, and reliable internet access (with alternate access).
- Other: Significant record of contributions in Pediatrics, commitment to student needs in a distance learning environment, teaching, advising, and mentoring experience, commitment to research, excellent communication and leadership skills, and experience with distance learning (preferred).
- Credentialing: Appropriate credentials, earned degree from an accredited institution, and potential licensing for specific programs.
- Licenses & Certifications: Maintain required licenses and certifications to continue teaching.
- Research: Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations. Publication acknowledging Walden University is possible.
Compensation
Graduate Courses: $1,560 - $4,080 per quarter/semester (depending on course type & length)
Undergraduate Courses: $700 - $2,200 per quarter (depending on course type & length)
Additional opportunities: Dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and mentoring. Salary may adjust based on legal factors, experience, location, licenses, and certifications.
