We are recruiting for an experienced and diversely capable Programme Manager to join us for an initial fixed term contract until 31 December 2025, with scope for this to be extended. This pivotal new role will be instrumental in shaping and delivering impactful programmes, overseeing all aspects from development and implementation to monitoring and evaluation.
You will play a key role in network building, training design, stakeholder engagement, and effective communication, ensuring our programmes achieve their strategic objectives.

As a Programme Manager in a small company you will be involved in all aspects of the business, but with a strong focus on managing our expanding AI programmes.
This role will require collaborating closely with Fathm’s Directors to understand and implement strategy and direction, as well as with Fathm’s Office Manager to align on contractor management.
The position is for an immediate start, primarily working remotely, but with occasional in-person meetings in London. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK. You will need to ensure you have access to a suitable professional and confidential environment with a reliable internet connection in which to carry out your duties.
Fathm has successfully introduced a four-day week, and this position is full time over Monday to Thursday with core hours between 9am and 5pm, with some flexibility required to meet business needs.
What you will be doing:
- Supporting the successful initiation and expansion of key initiatives, managing incoming requests for Fathm consultancy services.
- Overseeing all aspects of project and programme delivery, from planning and resource allocation to budgeting and implementation.
- Designing and implementing robust systems to track and evaluate the impact of our work.
- Maintaining a roster of skilled consultants, coaches, and associates.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with international and local partner organisations and stakeholders.
- Finding and interacting with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Overseeing application and selection processes with clients to build strong training cohorts.
- Collaborate with Fathm’s Directors to ensure programme strategies are aligned with organisational goals and to contribute to strategic growth initiatives, including scaling programmes internationally and exploring new areas for innovation.
- Stay informed on trends within the industry and leverage insights to strengthen Fathm’s role as a thought leader in the field.
About you:
Experience managing programmes, projects or similar initiatives within media or communications is essential. Strong understanding of how to build and maintain operational systems for programmes with multiple components. Able to independently prioritise and handle multiple ongoing projects and programmes.
Flexibility to adapt and support as part of a small team. Demonstrated experience in writing reports, and other business documents.
Demonstrated experience in programme management and an understanding of consulting.
Can work autonomously and collaborate as an effective team member.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Able to manage international programmes with a connection to journalism, media development, communications or information literacy.
Experience creating, implementing and monitoring budgets. Additional languages.
